They give rise to a total of more than 9000 cavities cataloged throughout Cantabria and about 4500 of them are located in the Alto Ason region.

Coventosa, Hall of the Ghosts
Coventosa is located in the Ason Valley, near Arredondo, more specifically in the town of Val de Ason. It is one of the best known cavities in Cantabria worldwide for its Cueto-Coventosa crossing, only suitable for those more experienced and fit speculators. This cave has more than 36 kilometers of underground galleries and wells.
From Valcan we propose you to visit the well-known room of the Ghosts, a few hundred meters from the entrance and which is accessed by a rappel about 15 meters high. This room hides in its interior a large number of formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, columns, gours, etc … That will make this visit a visual experience as you would never have imagined, enter the hand of our guides and be amazed at the great beauty that They hide our caves.
Approach to the mouth of Coventosa 10 min from the car, we have the same time and route around the activity. The duration of the activity will be between 2.5 to 3 hours.

Fresh, Spider Step
Fresca is located near the town of Ason, starting from the San Antonio neighborhood, towards the birth of the Ason, hanging on one of the slopes near the birth.
This is another of the best known cavities of the Alto Ason, inside which we find large galleries, some of them full of mud, which will be one of the obstacles along with the handrails, which we must use to circumvent, wells and cracks until arriving at the famous passage of the Spider.
It is a walk in which in addition to visualizing the numerous formations of the route, we will put into practice some of the techniques of rope progression typical of the world of caving.
The approach to the beginning of the activity along a steep path will take us about 35 minutes, this will be the same way back. The total duration of the activity will be around 4 hours.

Coventosa, Los Gours
The Cave of Coventosa is one of the best known cavities of Alto Ason and Cantabria, internationally for its Cueto-Coventosa crossing, a benchmark in the world of caving.Coventosa cunta with more than 36km of galleries and underground wells .
The crossing of the Gours, is a journey of no more than 4 km between the round trip to these formations, in which it is necessary to make several rappels, handrails and climbed by rope, until you reach the famous Gours that are of the many formations that Coventosa hides, they are small lakes or ponds of great beauty because of the color of its waters and the calcite walls that surround them.
The approach to the beginning of the activity along a comfortable path will take us approximately 10 minutes, being the way back to the vehicles through it, the total activity will be between 4 and 5 hours.

Cayuela, room of the Sierras
The Cave of Cayuela is another of the most representative cavities of the Alto Ason, for its large dimensions and the famous Tonio-Cayuela crossing, another of the references in the world of caving worldwide.
Inside it hides some formations that are only found in this type of cavities, where the large dimensions and a constant presence of air flow give rise to the famous saws, stalactites shaped like saw teeth. A true visual spectacle, which attracts innumerable fans of caving and lovers of the underground world.
During the activity we will have to carry out several handrails, including one with more than 30 meters of travel, several debrisings and steps through narrow areas that will make the activity an experience.
The approach is done by ascending path between native forest of oaks, chestnut trees and hazelnuts, this will take us about 30 minutes, the return is made along this same path. The total time of the activity will be approximately 5 hours.

The crossing of the Lakes, is a journey of no more than 6 km between the round trip, in which it is necessary to make several rappels, handrails and rope climbing,
We will make the journey to the Gours, which we will overcome by continuing to access the handrails to these at this point we will have reached the level of -140meters and we will continue until we reach the point known as the beach, later we will enter into a large-sized galleries with kettles and pools sculpted by the water, we will find the current of water, it will stop at the Cuvera River. Once this route of galleries is finished we will have reached the Lakes. Where we will be surprised at the dimensions of these.
This tour is a physically demanding activity of great beauty, only suitable for those with minimal physical conditions and some knowledge of rope progression.
The approach to the beginning of the activity along a comfortable path will take us approximately 10 minutes, being the way back to the vehicles through it, the total activity will be between 6 and 7 hours.

Integral de Cueva Mur
Located near Ramales de la Victoria, it is one of the best known cavities by Cantabros cavers and the rest of Spain, as it is the place where countless courses and practices are carried out by the different schools of caving, federations, clubs , etc. that exist in our region.
The Mur Cave crossing is considered as the initiation crossing for those beginner cavers who want to enter the world of the great underground crossings. In this crossing there will be handrails, rappels and rope ascension. Also reached the best known point of the entire journey, such as the passage of the remnants, very narrow step and that once started we only have the option to continue it, not suitable for those more apprehensive people.
It is a Crossing of great beauty for the amount of existing formations, among which the innumerable stages that will accompany us during the tour stand out. Without doubt an activity that must be remembered for a long time and essential in the world of caving.
